General ledger software where every entry keeps its trail
Build your chart in minutes, post journals from the keyboard and correct them without rewriting history, in separate books for each company.
In short
1flux general ledger software keeps a double-entry ledger for each legal entity, on a chart of accounts you can install from a 25-account trading template or import from CSV. Manual journals move through Draft, Posted, Void and Reversed. Posted lines can't be edited: a correction posts a reversal and a corrected entry, linked both ways, with an audit trail on every entry.
New journal
Balanced| # | Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Office rent | 12,500.00 | |
| 2 | Utilities | 2,180.00 | |
| 3 | Accrued expenses | 14,680.00 |
- A manual journal in Sadaf Building Supplies LLC, in AED, dated 30 September 2026, memo "September accruals".
- Lines: Office rent debit 12,500.00; Utilities debit 2,180.00; Accrued expenses credit 14,680.00.
- Totals: debit 14,680.00, credit 14,680.00, difference 0.00. The entry is Balanced.
- Actions: Save draft (⌘S) or Save & post (⌘Enter).
Who changed that entry, and why?
A ledger is only as good as the rules around it. In many growing companies, those rules live in people's heads, and nobody can answer the auditor.
Today
When the rules live in people's heads
- A posted entry gets “fixed” by overwriting it.
- The person who keys a journal also approves it.
- Someone posts into March in May, and the reported numbers quietly change.
- Nobody can say who changed an entry, or why.
In 1flux
When the ledger keeps the rules
- Posted lines are locked. A correction posts a linked reversal.
- Preparing and posting are separate permissions.
- A closed month refuses every posting.
- Every manual entry carries its own audit trail.
Build your chart of accounts in minutes
1flux gives each entity a chart of accounts as a tree with that entity’s balances. Headings group accounts; posting accounts take journals. Parent balances include everything beneath them.
- Install trading template. One click adds a trading chart of 25 accounts (5 headings and 20 posting accounts), including input and output VAT, goods received not invoiced, intercompany accounts, price variances, FX gain or loss and opening balance equity.
- Import a CSV with code, name, type, postable flag, mapping, Arabic name and intercompany flag, or add accounts one at a time.
- Drag to re-parent. 1flux rejects loops and keeps each level in code order.
- Export CSV with Arabic names intact in Excel.
- Deletion guards. An account with sub-accounts, posted activity, draft journals or a posting rule can’t be deleted.
Each entity keeps its own local codes and names, which roll up to one workspace-wide master chart for group reporting.

- Assets AED 4,061,380.00: cash and bank 1,842,300.00, accounts receivable 964,120.00, inventory 1,236,540.00, input VAT 18,420.00.
- Liabilities AED 551,140.00: accounts payable 412,880.00, goods received not invoiced 96,310.00, output VAT 41,950.00.
- Equity, Income and Expenses are collapsed headings with their balances. Posted and reversed entries are included.
Journals with a lifecycle, not an edit button
Every manual journal entry in 1flux has one of four statuses, and only two count in the books. To post, debits must equal credits and every account must be postable in that entity. An open period must cover the date, and nothing can be dated before the ledger cutover. Entries are numbered JE-YYYY-NNNN per entity and year.
| Status | What it means | Counts in the ledger? |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Saved work. It may be out of balance. | No |
| Posted | In the books. Its lines are locked. | Yes |
| Void | Taken out of the books with a reason, while its period is open. | No |
| Reversed | Cancelled by a mirror entry. Both stay in the books. | Yes, with its reversal |
How does 1flux general ledger software handle corrections?
Posted journal lines in 1flux can’t be changed, and the database itself enforces it. Corrections leave a visible trail instead.
- Small edits stay small. Memo and custom-field changes save in place while the period is open.
- Real changes post a pair. Changing the date, an account or an amount posts a reversing entry and a corrected entry in one step. Banners link them: “Replaces JE-…” and “Reversed by JE-…”.
- Reverse posts a mirror entry, once. A reversal can’t itself be reversed or voided.
- Void needs a reason and works only while the period is open.
- An audit trail on every manual entry lists who created, updated, posted, voided, reversed or corrected it, and when.
Journals created by receipts, deliveries, invoices and payments are read-only here. You correct them from their source document: see how automated posting works.

Separate who prepares from who posts
1flux splits journal work into separate permissions, so an accountant can prepare a month of accruals while posting stays with the finance manager.
Accountant
Prepare
- Create and edit draft journals.
- Delete drafts, with its own permission.
- Open an accounting period.
Finance manager
Post
- Post, void and reverse journals.
- Close an accounting period.
- Build the roles you need in roles and permissions.
General ledger and account ledgers
The general ledger lists every account with its debits, credits and closing balance for any date range. It groups accounts by nature (assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, cost of goods sold, expenses and other income) with subtotals and a “Debits equal credits” check. It works as your trial balance and exports to CSV.
Open any account for its account ledger: opening balance, period movements and a running balance after every line. Each line links to its journal and to the source document behind it.
The same ledger gives each legal entity its profit and loss and balance sheet, straight from the ledger, and it’s what you reconcile your bank accounts against.
- General ledger (Debits equal credits).
- Account ledger (Inventory · running balance).
- Journal (Dr Inventory · Cr GRNI).
- Goods receipt report (GRR-2026-0074): Posted.
Bring in your opening trial balance once
1flux posts your opening balances as one journal on the cutover date, the day your books start in 1flux. Upload a CSV or Excel file, or paste rows, with account code, debit and credit. Review them in a grid that shows the account each code resolves to, then post.
The balance must be exact, with no negative, two-sided or duplicate rows. It posts once per entity, and nothing can be dated earlier afterwards. Read more about data import and migration.
- Ledger cutover date (Set in ledger policies) . Nothing posts.
- CSV or Excel (Account code, debit, credit) . Nothing posts.
- Review in a grid (Difference 0.00) . Nothing posts.
- Opening trial balance . Posts One balanced journal.
Periods and ledger policies
1flux keeps monthly accounting periods for each entity, and several can be open at once. Once you close a month, every posting path refuses it: journals, invoices, payments, receipts, deliveries and stock documents. Ledger policies are set per entity, in three sections.
| Section | What you set |
|---|---|
| Posting | Whether backdated stock postings are allowed (never, within open periods or within a grace period of up to 365 days), and the ledger cutover date. |
| Costing | Weighted average, FIFO or standard cost, and the negative-stock rule, which blocks negative stock by default. |
| Fiscal year and purpose | The month your fiscal year starts, and whether the entity trades or exists for consolidation only. |
Account mapping decides where documents post
1flux posts documents by purpose, not by hard-coded account. Posting account mapping lists each purpose, such as Sales revenue, Output VAT, Inventory or Goods received not invoiced, with its account or “Not mapped”.
- Each purpose must post to the right account type.
- Items can override their inventory, cost of sales and expense accounts.
- A changed mapping applies to future postings only.
- A missing mapping blocks posting with a clear message.
Posting account mapping
| Purpose | Account |
|---|---|
| Sales revenue | Sales revenue |
| Accounts receivable | Accounts receivable |
| Output VAT | Output VAT |
| Inventory | Inventory |
| Goods received not invoiced | Goods received not invoiced |
| Invoice price variance | Not mapped |
| Foreign exchange gain or loss | Foreign exchange gain or loss |
- Posting account mapping for Sadaf Building Supplies LLC: each posting purpose and the account it posts to.
- Sales revenue: Sales revenue.
- Accounts receivable: Accounts receivable.
- Output VAT: Output VAT.
- Inventory: Inventory.
- Goods received not invoiced: Goods received not invoiced.
- Invoice price variance: Not mapped.
- Foreign exchange gain or loss: Foreign exchange gain or loss.

How do I correct a posted journal entry in 1flux?
1flux locks posted journal lines, and the database rejects changes to them. You can update the memo and custom fields while the period is open. Changing the date, an account or an amount posts a reversal and a corrected entry in one step, linked both ways, and the entry's audit trail records who made the change.
Does 1flux separate who prepares journals from who posts them?
Yes. 1flux splits journal work into separate permissions: one lets people create and edit draft journals, and another lets them post, void and reverse. Give accountants the first and finance managers the second, so every manual journal passes through two people. Opening a period and closing one are separate permissions too, and custom roles combine them however you need.
Can 1flux stop postings into a closed month?
Yes. Closing a month in 1flux stops every posting dated in it: journals, invoices, payments, receipts, deliveries and stock documents. Corrections to documents from a closed month post on today's date, in the open period. Each entity's six-step close checklist ticks itself as the work gets done, and the Close period button unlocks once the first five steps are complete.
Does 1flux have a chart of accounts template for trading companies?
Yes. Install trading template adds a 25-account trading chart in one click: 5 headings and 20 posting accounts, including input and output VAT, goods received not invoiced, intercompany accounts, price variances, FX gain or loss and opening balance equity. Add your own accounts beneath it, drag to re-parent them and map each posting purpose, such as Sales revenue or Output VAT, to an account.
Can I import our existing chart of accounts?
Yes. Paste or upload a CSV with account code, name, type, postable flag, mapping, Arabic name and intercompany flag. You can also start from the 25-account trading template and add your own accounts. The chart exports to CSV with Arabic names intact. Each entity keeps local codes and names that roll up to the shared master chart.
How do I import an opening trial balance into 1flux?
1flux posts your opening trial balance as one journal on the cutover date. Upload a CSV or Excel file, or paste rows, with account code, debit and credit, then review them in a grid that shows the account each code resolves to. The balance must be exact, the journal posts once per entity, and nothing can be dated earlier afterwards.
Does the general ledger produce a P&L and balance sheet?
Yes. 1flux produces a profit and loss and balance sheet for each legal entity, straight from the ledger. The general ledger itself is a trial-balance-style report: every account with debits, credits and closing balance, grouped by nature (assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, cost of goods sold and expenses) with subtotals. It exports to CSV, and every account opens its own ledger.
