# Financial consolidation software for groups of trading companies

Combine every company's ledger into one group currency, with average and closing rates and a visible translation difference, once each month is closed.

## In short

1flux financial consolidation software combines the ledgers of every operating company in your group into one group currency. Income and expenses translate at the month's average rate and balances at the closing rate, with the translation difference shown for each entity. Run a draft to review; a final run needs every entity's month closed. The result is a consolidated trial balance by account, exportable to CSV.

Each company keeps its own currency. The run translates them into the group currency and shows the difference.

View as text

1. Two companies have closed September 2026: Sadaf Building Supplies LLC keeps its books in AED, Sadaf Trading Company in SAR.
2. Income and expenses translate at the month’s average rate: SAR 1 = AED 0.9790. SAR 400,000.00 of sales revenue becomes AED 391,600.00.
3. Assets, liabilities and equity translate at the closing rate: SAR 1 = AED 0.9800. SAR 180,000.00 of receivables becomes AED 176,400.00.
4. Because two rates are used, the translated books differ by AED 100.00. 1flux shows it as a translation difference for the Saudi company.
5. The final run produces a consolidated trial balance by account in AED: debits and credits of AED 2,410,700.00 each. It is a trial balance, not formatted group statements, and it exports to CSV.

The problem

## Why does consolidating the group take a week?

In most family groups and holding companies, consolidation is a spreadsheet. The pain isn't the arithmetic: every step is manual, and nobody can be sure the inputs were final.

Today

Trial balances by email Rates looked up by hand Accounts mapped in Excel A plug for the difference

With 1flux

1. Closed entity ledgers
2. Daily rates
3. Master chart
4. Trial balance

Today, trial balances are collected, translated and mapped by hand. In 1flux, a run reads closed ledgers on one master chart.

Each company sends its trial balance at month-end. Someone looks up exchange rates, maps local accounts to group accounts and forces the difference into a plug. Then a subsidiary posts a late adjustment, and the whole thing starts again.

Multi-entity

## Start from books that are already separate

Consolidation in 1flux starts from the way the books are kept. Every [legal entity](https://1flux.ai/glossary/legal-entity) has its own double-entry books, base currency and periods. Each entity’s accounts carry local codes and names, and roll up to one workspace-wide master chart.

So there’s no mapping exercise at month-end. The mapping is the chart. A consolidation run adds up each master account across entities, then translates it.

Learn how entities are set up on the [multi-entity platform](https://1flux.ai/platform/multi-entity) page.

1. Legal entities

2. One workspace

Separate legal entities, each with its own currency and books, on one workspace.

Draft and final runs

## Run consolidation for any month

Group finance chooses **Run consolidation**, then picks a year, a month and a run status:

- **Draft — review results first.** Run it as often as you like while the month is still moving.
- **Final — all entities closed.** 1flux refuses a final run until every entity’s period for that month is closed, with a message such as “Close every entity period before a final run. Still open: 2.”

Each run includes every active operating entity in the workspace. It takes posted and reversed journal lines by master account and entity: balance-sheet accounts cumulatively to month-end, and income and expenses for the month. A run register keeps every draft and final run with its time.

- The Run consolidation dialog, for September 2026.
- Run status options: Draft — review results first; Final — all entities closed. Final is selected.
- 1flux refuses the final run: "Close every entity period before a final run. Still open: 2."

A final run is refused until every company has closed the month. Drafts can run at any time.

Translation

## How does 1flux financial consolidation software translate currencies?

1flux uses IFRS-style translation. Each entity’s books stay in its own [functional currency](https://1flux.ai/glossary/functional-currency), and the run translates them into the group currency. The [currency translation difference](https://1flux.ai/glossary/currency-translation-difference) is shown, not buried. If a rate is missing, the run stops and names the rate it needs, for example “Add a SAR to AED rate on or before 2026-09-30.”

| What | Rate used |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Income and expenses | The month’s average rate: the average of the daily rates entered that month, or the closing rate if there are none |
| Assets, liabilities and equity | The closing rate: the latest rate on or before month-end |
| The difference | A **Translation difference** line for each entity |

Rates come from the daily rates you enter.

Group currency

## Choose your group currency

The group currency is the base currency of the entity you’re in when you run consolidation. Many groups report from their holding company.

In 1flux, you can set up that holding company as a **Consolidation group only** entity: a reporting entity that can’t post, so nobody books trade into it by mistake. Run consolidation from it, and the group reports in its currency.

## Read the report

The run detail opens with tiles for **Entities with balances** and **Translation difference**. Below them, each entity appears as a group of accounts with subtotals, in its functional currency and the group currency side by side.

A footnote states the method: “Income and expenses at the period’s average rate, other balances at the closing rate”. The whole report exports to CSV for your group pack or auditors, and the Accounting overview’s **Books health** shows when the group was last consolidated.

- A final consolidation run for September 2026, reported in AED from Sadaf Holding.
- Entities with balances: 2. Translation difference: AED 100.00.
- Sadaf Building Supplies LLC (AED): sales revenue 620,000.00, accounts receivable 290,000.00, inventory 340,000.00, the same in the group currency.
- Sadaf Trading Company (SAR): sales revenue SAR 400,000.00 becomes AED 391,600.00; accounts receivable SAR 180,000.00 becomes AED 176,400.00; inventory SAR 220,000.00 becomes AED 215,600.00; translation difference AED 100.00.
- Footnote: income and expenses at the period's average rate, other balances at the closing rate.

A consolidated trial balance by account: each company in its own currency and the group currency, side by side.

Group structure

## Record the group structure

Under **Group structure**, choose **Add a subsidiary** to record a parent, a subsidiary, an ownership percentage and the date it takes effect.

- Each subsidiary has one active parent at a time.
- Circular structures are refused.
- The method is full consolidation.

* Group structure: Sadaf Holding is the parent of Sadaf Building Supplies LLC (AE · AED) and Sadaf Trading Company (SA · SAR), each at 100% ownership, effective 1 January 2026.
* Full consolidation is supported.

The group structure records each subsidiary’s parent, ownership and effective date.

Access

## Who can run it

Running a consolidation is a separate permission from viewing one, so company accountants can stay inside their own books.

One entity

### Company accountants

- Limited to their own entity when you invite them.
- Work in their company’s books and close its month.

Every entity

### Group finance

- Hold the permission to run consolidation.
- Need access to every entity in the group, because a run reads every entity’s books.
- See [1flux for business groups](https://1flux.ai/solutions/business-groups).

How it works

## From separate companies to one group currency

Six steps, most of them once. After that, each month is a close and a run.

1. ### Set up each company

As a legal entity with its own currency and books.

2. ### Record the group structure

And, if you like, a consolidation-only holding entity.

3. ### Enter monthly exchange rates

For each currency pair into the group currency.

4. ### Close each entity’s month

   From its close checklist.

5. ### Run a draft

Review it and fix anything at entity level.

6. ### Run final

   And export the CSV.

FAQ

## Questions, answered

Still deciding? [Talk to sales](https://1flux.ai/contact)

### What does a 1flux consolidation run produce?

1flux produces a consolidated trial balance by account in one group currency. Each entity appears with its figures in its own currency and the group currency side by side, plus a translation difference line. Tiles show the entities with balances and the total translation difference, and the whole report exports to CSV for your group pack or your auditors.

### How does 1flux translate foreign subsidiaries in consolidation?

1flux uses IFRS-style translation. Each entity's books stay in its own functional currency, and the run translates them into the group currency: income and expenses at the month's average rate and balances at the closing rate, with a separate translation difference for each entity. Your accountants and auditors decide how the consolidated figures are presented in the group pack.

### Which exchange rates does 1flux use for consolidation?

1flux uses the daily rates you enter. The closing rate is the latest rate on or before the last day of the month. The average rate is the simple average of the rates entered during the month, falling back to the closing rate if none were entered. A missing rate stops the run and names the rate it needs.

### Can we consolidate before every company has closed the month?

Yes. 1flux lets you run draft consolidations at any time to review the numbers. A final run is refused until every operating entity's period for that month is closed, and the message tells you how many are still open. That way, a final run is always based on books that can no longer change.

### Can 1flux record our group structure?

Yes. Under Group structure in 1flux, add a subsidiary with its parent, an ownership percentage and the date it takes effect. Each subsidiary has one active parent at a time, circular structures are refused and the method is full consolidation. A holding company can be set up as a consolidation-only entity that reports for the group but never posts trade.

### Can 1flux consolidate a UAE company and a Saudi company?

Yes. Set up both as legal entities in one 1flux workspace, each with its own currency, registrations and books. Enter the SAR and AED rates you need, close both months and run consolidation from the entity whose currency the group reports in. 1flux translates the Saudi company's figures and shows the translation difference.

### Who can run a consolidation in 1flux?

1flux makes running a consolidation a separate permission from viewing one, so company accountants can stay inside their own entity's books. Group finance holds the permission to run consolidation and has access to every entity in the group, because a run reads every entity's books. Access to each legal entity is set when you invite someone.
