# Local purchase request

What is a local purchase request, and when does an LPR make more sense than full sourcing?

Definition

A local purchase request (LPR) is a quick internal request to buy something locally, usually small or urgent items, that goes straight to an order without full sourcing.

## What is a local purchase request used for?

Companies use LPRs where collecting several formal quotes would cost more time than it saves, for example consumables or a part needed on site today. The LPR records what’s needed, where it should be delivered and any preferred supplier; the buyer then gets a price and converts it into a [purchase order](https://1flux.ai/glossary/purchase-order).

Example: a site team raises an LPR for 25 safety harnesses; the buyer phones two local suppliers and converts the LPR into an LPO for SAR 3,750.
